ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

GCTC certification is earned through a combination of theoretical and practical assessments designed to evaluate the participant’s knowledge, technical ability and readiness to work in a combat sports corner.

Participants are assessed in three key areas: theoretical knowledge, professional hand wrapping, and care & treatment.

Successful completion requires participants to demonstrate an acceptable standard in each area. Safety, technique, hygiene, preparation, decision-making and the ability to perform effectively under time pressure are all considered during the assessment.

Participants who successfully meet the required GCTC standards receive the GCTC Professional Cutman Certification.

TRAINING FOR REAL COMBAT SPORTS ENVIRONMENTS

The Cutman Certification Course prepares participants to apply their skills in realistic combat sports environments. Training focuses on the responsibilities of a cutman before, during and between rounds, where preparation, communication and efficient decision-making are essential.

Participants develop practical skills that can be applied across Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA. This includes preparing the fighter’s hands, organizing corner equipment, managing swelling and minor cuts, maintaining hygiene standards and communicating effectively with fighters, coaches and officials.

The objective is not simply to learn individual techniques, but to understand how those techniques work together during competition. Participants are trained to remain organized, work efficiently under time pressure and understand their role as part of a professional corner team.

GCTC training combines technical knowledge with practical application to help participants build the foundation required to continue developing as professional cutmen.

Practical training also helps participants understand how to adapt their work to different combat sports and competition environments. Procedures and time available in the corner can vary between Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA. The Cutman Certification Course develops the awareness, preparation and adaptability needed to work safely and efficiently while supporting fighters and the rest of the corner team.
